The author reviews kala azar in the State of Pará and reports
a case in the rural zone of the municipality of Cachoeira do Arari, where
an epidemiological survey was carried out.
Not finding any other cases, either in humans or in dogs,
parasitized by Leishmania, the author concludes that this is not an
endemic focus of kala azar and that this represents another sporadic
case in Pará State.
