There are two licensed rotavirus (RV) vaccines worldwide, which have been safely used and efficacious in many countries, particularly in Latin American. Many of the clinical trials to evaluate the safety, efficacy and public health impact of these vaccines were conducted in Latin America. A summary of the part this region contributed to the development of these RV vaccines is described in this chapter.
