A description is given of both sexes of
Lutzomyia evangelistai sp. n., from Belém,
State of Pará, Brazil. The new species belongs
to the cruciata group of THEODOR
(1965) and is easily distinguished from the
other species of that group by its straw-
-colored, not infuscated, mesonotum and
scutellum. It algo appears to be closely related
to L. nuneztovari (Ortiz, 1954).
